A Public Mural Project Supporting Carpe Artista

THE CAUSE

Carpe Artista provides artistic training, leadership development and community engagement opportunities for artists, in Smyrna, North Rutherford County, and surrounding areas. They create and manage a wide range of art related classes, events, performances and camps for local residents of all ages, interests and skill levels.

They are also heavily involved with the support and coordination of festivals, concerts, shows and other public cultural events including:Simply Smyrna Celebration Festival, Depot District Arts Fest, Smyrna Farmers Market, Depot Days Street Festival. These events engage local businesses and industry to partner for cultural development while allowing Carpe Artista to promote the creative arts to the community.

Carpe Artista provides arts education support and services to several public and private schools and organizations in Smyrna and North Rutherford County. Carpe Artista is a 501c3 non-profit organization based in Smryna, TN.

THE PROJECT

The public mural project will take place on Saturday, June 30th*, from 8a.m. to 2p.m. at Hoover Paint Store Smyrna located in downtown Smyrna at 200 Jefferson St. Hoover Paint Store and Carpe Artista invite the greater Smyrna community to assist local artists in painting a mural on the Lowry facing side of the building thus inviting people to “leave their mark” on Smyrna. The cost for this event is simply a donation of any amount with 100% of the proceeds going to fund Carpe Artista community arts initiatives.

*If it were to rain the day of the event, the make up date will be Saturday, July 7th, 8a.m. to 2p.m.

THE GOALS

Through execution of this public mural project, we hope to impact the community in the following ways:
1. To create a community project that young and old can feel good about participating in and see their results on a daily basis.
2. To bring further awareness to the revitalization efforts of downtown Smyrna.
3. To engage members of the community from all walks of life in a positive and meaningful way.
4. To give Carpe Artista a platform to educate the larger Smyrna community about the various endeavors of their organization.
5. To raise funds for future projects, programs and events of Carpe Artista.
6. To make friends and have fun!
